This Tuesady, I leave to fly to Ecuador. I will arrive in Quito tomorrow night. While Quito was shaken by the recent earthquake, the damage there was minimal. The significant damage took place along the western coast of the country.
On Wednesday, missionary Cody Whittaker and I will make a six-hour (more or less) drive to the city of Macas (population a little less than 15,000). The city lies at the east edge of the Andes Mountains and on the edge of the jungle (“the Oriente”) toward the eastern border of Ecuador.
We will be teaching the first module of Reaching & Teaching’s pastoral and leadership training program. There will be attendees from Macas and surrounding areas, including some members of the Shuar people group
The training will take place each day from this Thursday through next Monday. We will start each day in mid-afternoon and teach well into the evening.
- Please pray for a successful teaching trip. We are excited to bring teaching to these pastors and leaders.
- Pray for the logistics of our travel.
- Pray for Cody, who will be doing some of the teaching as well as all of the interpreting for me.
- Pray for Cody’s wife (Maria) who has been sick with flu-like symptoms for about a week now.
- As always, please pray for my family while I am away.
Thank you for your faithful prayer support. I am thankful for your partnership with me in this ministry.
May grace and peace be with you,
My support has risen to approximately 70% of the needed amount. Please pray for additional partners. My budget was based upon making six to nine international teaching trips during 2016. As of the end of May, I will have made six. I’m thinking I might exceed the estimate. While I am thrilled for these opportunities, the financial cost of ministry increases with each trip. Please let me know if you know of people with whom I can share the vision of this ministry.
A Commitment to Good Communication – Your role as a partner in this ministry demands that I keep you regularly informed about what the Lord is doing so that you can better pray for and rejoice with us.
A Commitment to Good Stewardship – Your financial commitment is significant, both for you and for those to whom we are ministering. I promise to steward your resources well and to give myself wholeheartedly to the work of the gospel through Reaching & Teaching.
A Commitment to YOU – You can count on my commitment to you as a valued partner in the work of the gospel. I am eager to hear from you – your personal prayer requests – so that we can move forward together in the service of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
