Greetings from Anapu, Brazil. So far, the trip has been going pretty well. We experienced some major transportation-related issues getting here, but those are behind us now. We’ve had to make some scheduling adjustments and go with some Plan B arrangements with interpreters; however, it’s all working out. I’ll provide a detailed update after returning home.
I would like to pass along a prayer request. There is one man here in Anapu with whom I really have developed a friendship on my previous trips. He has only been a Christian for a short time, but he loves the Lord and wants to learn as much as he can. His name is Antonio Carlos.
Earlier this year, it was discovered that Monique, Antonio Carlos’s wife, has breast cancer. (This couple is in their 30s). She has been traveling back and forth to Belem for chemotherapy. (Belem, a rather large city, is the capital of the state of Para. Due to the roads, Belem is a ten-hour drive from Anapu. Or, you can do a two-hour drive to Altamira and catch a one-hour flight to Belem.) The chemo treatments ended in June. This coming Friday, she will be having a mastectomy in Belem.
They will be leaving on Wednesday to travel to Belem. Monique will be admitted to the hospital on Thursday, and surgery will be early Friday morning.
We visited with them earlier this afternoon – chatted, prayed, and cried with them. I assured them there would be many people in the States praying for them. This email is a step in getting that started. Please pray for this dear couple, and feel free to pass along this prayer request in your local church.
Thank you! Your joining in prayer means so much – to them and to me.Blessings,
My support has risen to approximately 70% of the needed amount. Please pray for additional partners. My budget was based upon making six to nine international teaching trips during 2016. As of the end of May, I will have made six. I’m thinking I might exceed the estimate. While I am thrilled for these opportunities, the financial cost of ministry increases with each trip. Please let me know if you know of people with whom I can share the vision of this ministry.
A Commitment to Good Communication – Your role as a partner in this ministry demands that I keep you regularly informed about what the Lord is doing so that you can better pray for and rejoice with us.
A Commitment to Good Stewardship – Your financial commitment is significant, both for you and for those to whom we are ministering. I promise to steward your resources well and to give myself wholeheartedly to the work of the gospel through Reaching & Teaching.
A Commitment to YOU – You can count on my commitment to you as a valued partner in the work of the gospel. I am eager to hear from you – your personal prayer requests – so that we can move forward together in the service of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
